Carbon Zero Initiative’s vision is for Tasmania to be the first place in the world running entirely without fossil fuels - a carbon zero economy. Tasmania has an existing claim to be a centre of low carbon innovation. Despite being far away from economic hubs, Tasmania leads in low carbon innovation, exporting its expertise to the world.

We work to speed up the transition away from carbon-emitting technologies to those with zero emissions, or best practice net zero emissions.

We ensure all people are included. We create space for First Nations’ and marginalised communities’ voices to be heard.

We advocate for technologies and plans that create the most opportunity, minimise impacts to nature, and share benefits with local communities.
